Legacy Overland resurrects another Range Rover classic

Conservative-minded drivers have precious little choice in the era of digital interfaces, electronic assists and automatic transmissions, but Project Exeter by Legacy Overland does a good job bringing at least some of these goodies back to the market.

The restomod started as a 1975 Range Rover with the short cab. The restorer spent three years rebuilding it on modern components, starting from the frame. The body received a Beluga Black finish, new Xenon headlights replaced their outdated counterparts, and Restyle wheels with custom hubcaps were put inside the arches. The rest was restored as is.

The cabin merited a makeover in imitation leather and velour. An Alpine multimedia unit was installed instead of a classic radio along with Alpine speakers and amplifier. While not the most period-correct of choices, the new head unit has the undisputable advantage of supporting Bluetooth connections, smartphones, and having USB ports. An extended gauge cluster and an air conditioner were also added.

Powering the classic is an LS3 V8 crate engine commonly used in similar conversions. The six-speed transmission is automatic and comes from GM, but the transfer case is original. We would image manual being an option for those interested.

You will need to contact Legacy Overland for any pricing information on the Project Exeter or a similar conversion.
