Lexus contemplates a truck launch

Lexus is not averse to the idea of releasing a pickup truck as long as the customers want it, Chief Engineer of Lexus Electrified admitted during a press conference in Japan. He also shared other intriguing ideas.

In particular, he let it slip that, should such a project be greenlit at any time in the future, the pickup would not have anything at all in common with Toyota’s current vehicles. It will not be based on the Tacoma, the Hilux or the Tundra lineup (you will find these in the gallery and video below).

Furthermore, the Lexus representative said this hypothetical new truck would not be designed with ICE engines in mind – it would be conceived from the ground up as a purely electric vehicle.

One of Lexus’ less orthodox premieres of late was the LM minivan. It premiered in 2019 and went into its second generation not long ago.
