Mazda CX-8 seven-seater gets ready for 2023

As you may know, the Mazda CX-8 is essentially just a CX-5 stretched by 350 mm (14 inches) to accommodate a third seat row. After a few years of domestic sales only, it expanded to the markets of Southeastern Asia, China and Australia. It has now received a mid-life refresh.

The update lands the SUV with new headlights and taillights, modernized bumpers and a mesh grille previously reserved for the range-topping version.

Buyers will be offered an optional styling package called Grand Journey, which mainly adds silver accents inside and outside the car. The two existing packages – Sports Appearance and Black Tone – continue to be available for those who would like a gloss-black or matte-black décor, respectively.

Inside, the front seats are new and the trim materials have been revised. The infotainment display continues to be 10.25 inches large, but now supports wireless Apple CarPlay connection.

Revised shock absorbers and springs are the only technical novelty in the release. The manufacturer claims the subframes were reinforced, too.

Domestic sales will start in late 2022 from the equivalent of U.S. $20,400.
