McLaren dedicates a black-and-white 750S to the spirit of Las Vegas

Right before the F1 Grand Prix night in Las Vegas, McLaren unveiled a one-off 750S that it called “Project Viva”. The otherwise stock supercar wore a stylish monochrome wrap that the company said reflected “the spirit of the City of Lights.” It will stay on display at a local hotel until Thursday night, and that’s all we know about its future.

McLaren Special Operations carried out the transformation in two exclusive shades of monochrome, Muruwai White and Vegas Nights. The latter may look black at a glance, but shines with light blue, purple and green undertones depending on the view angle and the lighting. As for the name of the project, we suppose it could be a nod to the song Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley.

The graphics references the night life of the City of Sins and its major landmarks. The ten stars at the rear end represent the number of Constructors’ Cup awards claimed by McLaren’s current racing team. There’s also a stylized depiction of the helmet that Bruce McLaren himself wore to the Formula track in 1970.

The model 750S was introduced two years ago as a replacement of the outdated McLaren 720S. It brought along a 4.0-liter V8 capable of the titular 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The supercar zips from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds.
