Mercedes-AMG teases GT 73 hybrid supercar

The Mercedes-AMG team has released a video on the New Year’s Eve, hinting at the forthcoming premiere of its brand-new GT 4-Door Coupe series flagship. The GT 73 looks identical to the GT 63 S on the outside, but it launches silently.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 73 emerged based upon a prototype first shown two years ago. According to market experts, the production version will most likely feature the same engine configuration as the concept: specifically, a twin-turbo V8 and a single electric motor, joining their efforts for 800 PS (790 hp, 590 kW). To put things into perspective, the GT 63 S maxed out at 639 PS (630 hp, 477 kW).

In all likelihood, the newcomer will launch 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than three seconds and thus compete against the Porsche Panamera Hybrid in its market niche.

The reveal event is scheduled for next year, but the date remains unannounced.
