Thor Industries previews a hybrid motorhome concept

Thor Industries, a U.S.-based manufacturer of homes on wheels and camping trailers, has presented its take on a part-electric motorhome.

It runs on a custom chassis by Harbinger Motors and utilizes a serial-hybrid system with a traditional motor used as a power generator for the batteries on board. The company reckons it can take between 3 and 6 battery packs rated at 35 kWh each. Multiple 800-volt motors will handle the propulsion. With a solar panel on the roof, the range should come close to 500 miles (805 kilometers).

The production start is scheduled for the next year.
