Video: Carfection tries out an all-electric Porsche 911

Porsche has made it clear that it would not want to strip the iconic 911 series of its ICE heart, so Everrati took matters into its own hands and electrified one just to see what it would be like. Carfection reporter Henry Catchpole tested the result and has much to tell us about it.

The tuner worked with a 964-gen Porsche 911, which received a complete restoration and modernization. Its current powertrain drives the wheels with 506 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, which puts it on the same level of performance as the latest 911 GT3 – at least, on paper.

In reality, the car needs less than four seconds for its 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint. Catchpole still comments that the launch isn’t as snappy as the gas-powered 911.

Interestingly enough, Everrati reports a weight balance of 40/60 – meaning that three-fifths of the car’s weight is on the rear axle, more or less preserving the RED Porsche feel. Despite this, according to the video, it handles more like a 718 Cayman than a 911.

In the end, Catchpole admits he found the silent electric powertrain not as much fun as the flat-six, but liked the completely adjustable suspension that could be configured for a more classic 911-like feel.
