Porsche Spain celebrates 40 years with a special edition

The Spanish division of Porsche, which elevated its status from mere importer to full-fledged company subsidiary in 1984, is now celebrating its 40th birthday with a special 911 Cuarenta Edition. Only 40 cars like this will be made and offered from €284,400 each.

The teams of Porsche Iberica and the company’s Zuffenhausen Design HQ have envisioned the anniversary coupe as something modern, yet something that could believably be seen on the roads of Europe four decades ago. This is where all the vintage flair comes from.

The body finish is an exclusive shade of green meant to remind us about the leaves of Spanish oaks. The oak motif can also be found in the handcrafted Cuarenta Edition logo. As for the black protective wrap on the fenders, the companies argue that it was highly popular among Porsche buyers in Spain in the ‘80s. The same goes for the two-tone wheels.

Multiple varieties of leather and fabric are used in the trim. The design pays homage to the tradition of saddle-making unofficially recognized as fine art on the Iberian Peninsula. Numerous special edition badges, custom embroidery and a unique key fob with a leather case round off the list of modifications.

This means that the drivetrain stays untouched. From the technical standpoint, the car is a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. Introduced in late spring this year, it uses a 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor for the first time on record. The system outputs 541 PS (534 hp / 398 kW) and takes the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in three seconds flat.
