After refreshing the street-legal 911 lineup, Porsche has now done the same with its race cars – the 911 GT3 R and 911 Cup (formerly known as the GT3 Cup). The changes are very local and hard to spot, but that’s nothing new for the Stuttgart automaker.
Starting with the 911 Cup, its 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine now outputs 513 PS (506 hp / 377 kW), which is 10 horsepower or 7 kilowatts more than stock. The car itself benefits from a revised aero kit promising less drag and more downforce. The brakes are stronger, and while the interior remains barebones, it’s now supposedly more ergonomic (photos are pending). Prices start from a cool €269,000.
As for the 911 GT3 R, its 4.2-liter stays stock and outputs up to 557 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) based on the regulation compliance mode chosen. Porsche mentions power steering, ABS and aero improvements here, and says that some of the formerly optional equipment is now standard.
As usual, owners of pre-facelift cars will be able to buy upgrade packages to get their rides up to date. Prices of those start from €41,500 before installation.
