Aznom Automotive, a niche automaker headquartered in Monza, Italy, has announced its luxury-laden sedan Palladium last spring, promising us a reveal in September. The event has now been postponed to the Milano Monza Open Air Motor Show starting in late October.
Aznom has been designing original cars for thirteen years now, but it outsourced this particular project to Camal, a design studio based in Turin. The executive saloon measures six meters (19.7 feet) long and two meters (6.5 feet) tall and draws inspiration from its large ancestors from the 1930s. The name “Palladium” doesn’t just reference the previous metal, but also has other meanings, such as “Bastion”, “Rampart”, “Stronghold” or “Fortress”. The company says it will only be building ten units with utmost attention paid to personalization.
It seems unlikely that Aznom is developing the chassis and powertrain from scratch. By all indications, the U.S.-made Ram 1500 pickup provides the basis for it. The company actually remodeled it into a sedan named Atulux (All-Terrain Utility Luxury) a few years ago. That one had air ride suspension, performance brakes, a 5.7-liter V8 rated at 401 hp (300 kW) and a spacious cabin. the equipment list included an espresso machine, a fridge, an Xbox One, ceiling-mounted displays, an audio system and a trim made up from wood, Nappa leather and Alcantara (watch the video for details).
The Palladium is going to be an all-wheel drive sedan powered by a 5.7-liter twin-turbo V8 for 700+ hp (522+ kW) and something like 883 Nm (650 pound-feet) of torque, the company reports.
