The one-off Rolls-Royce Cullinan Cosmos takes the automaker’s signature Starry Sky ceiling and one-ups it with a depiction of the entire Milky Way.
The company emphasizes that it was its first vehicle in history with a hand-painted ceiling. The artist spent 160 hours working on the starry motif, applying the paint in more than 20 layers. It was then perforated to allow the LEDs to shine through. It’s unclear how many individual diodes were used, but the British automaker’s similar projects tend to go well over 1,000.
Space motifs continue in the white, yellow and blue trim scheme and adorn individual elements like the door panels. If the result comes across as a bit childlike, that’s no coincidence: the man who ordered the SUV did it to fuel his 4-year-old son’s interest towards the mysteries of space.
