Rolls-Royce Boat Tail debuts as a one-off work of art

As you may have heard, Rolls-Royce has recently resurrected its Coachbuild division. The revived department has now unveiled the Boat Tail, a car whose patent images we saw back in mid-2020.

Stylistically, the car inclines towards the Sweptail model the company made four years ago for a special client. Three collectors ordered cars like this from Rolls-Royce, based on the same basic bodywork but with different styling cues.

This is how the luxury-laden, yacht-inspired Boat Tail came to be. Concealed under wooden paneling of the rear deck are a champagne cooler, silverware, a porcelain set, picnic seats, a table, and an umbrella. The roof can be removed manually and you can take a tent along if you would like some protection against the elements.

The aluminum Architecture of Luxury platform stays the same as in the Cullinan, Ghost, and Phantom models. The company claims it has spent eight months modifying the space-frame. All in all, there are 1,813 original parts in the car.

The rest of the details will be revealed on June 8, 2021. We know nothing about the powertrain specifications, but the regular 6.75-liter V12 will likely be used here as well.

Starting this year, Rolls-Royce Coachbuild will process orders from clients who feel that what the Bespoke department offers is not exclusive enough for them.
