Another Porsche Taycan wannabe hits the snow in China

Billed as an affordable EV with a sporty character, the Shangjie Z7 still has no premiere date, but you can check out this official video of it having fun in the show in the meantime.

Like many other recent EVs announced in the country, the car makes a rather blunt attempt to copycat the Porsche Taycan. It has similar-looking headlights stuffed with Matrix LEDs, more or less traditional door handles and smooth body curves. The spy photographer claims it’s around five meters (195 inches) long. The LiDAR on the roof is barely worth mentioning, because Shangjie is a SAIC-Huawei brand, and Huawei pretty much always puts semi-autonomous driving tech in its vehicles.

Although the car in the video seems to be an EV, we expect a range-extender hybrid variant to go on sale alongside it. For the competition, the local media seem to agree that it is targeting the Xiaomi SU7 first and foremost, but at a lower price point. The equipment should be largely on par with the SU7, according to reports.

The premiere should take place in the coming days or weeks at most, so stay tuned.
