Watch a Tesla Cybertruck outrace a Lamborghini Urus

Carwow has brought another super-SUV to a quarter-mile race against the recently launched Tesla Cybertruck. After effortlessly dethroning the nominally more powerful GMC Hummer EV, Elon Musk’s eccentric pickup tackled a Lamborghini Urus on its home grounds of Gigafactory Texas.

The Cybertruck seen here is a range-topping Cyberbeast spec packing three electric motors – one at the front and two at the rear. Their combined output amounts to 857 PS (845 hp / 630 kW) and 930 Nm (686 lb-ft) of torque. The pickup weighs a solid 3,084 kilos (6,800 lbs) and comes in at $96,390.

The Urus is just about featherweight in comparison at 2,199 kilos (4,850 lbs), but also more than twice as expensive ($208,000) and less powerful. Specifically, its four-liter V8 pushes out 650 PS (641 hp / 479 kW) and 850 Nm (623 lb-ft) of torque.

Another important difference is that the Cybertruck hits its acceleration ceiling very early – at 209 km/h, or 130 mph. The Urus can go on until 306 km/h (190 mph). That said, top speed doesn’t mean much in quarter-mile races between heavy vehicles.

In the end, the Cybertruck once again reigned supreme, pulling ahead of the Urus in all three 402-meter runs and only increasing the gap towards the finish. Its best time was 11.2 seconds. The Urus driver’s best was 12.3 seconds.

Carwow has conducted two rolling races as well, starting from 48 and 64 km/h (30 and 40 mph). The Cybertruck had no difficulty winning those, either. On one occasion, Matt Watson, who drove the electric truck, let his opponent get a slight head start – to the same result.

But wait before you think the defeat of the Urus was complete. There was also a brake test, which the SUV excelled at and which the stainless-steel truck failed very hard at.
