Baby Land Cruiser sprouts a quartet of concepts in Thailand

Right before launching its compact-sized Land Cruiser FJ SUV in Thailand, Toyota held a presentation event to showcase its extensive customization opportunities. None of these four prebuilt show cars will go on sale, but enthusiasts will be able to buy the relevant accessories for a build of their own.

Starting with the Meridian Concept, it is your go-to “balanced” off-roading build. Sporting rugged body kit parts all around and an ARB snorkel for wading water, it rides 20 mm (0.8 inches) higher than stock thanks to Old Man Emu springs in the suspension. It also makes use of 17-inch aftermarket wheels shod in mud tires.

The next entry, Nature Explorer, is a tiny camper of sorts. To that end, it features a roof tent, a side-mounted awning and some extra lighting for nighttime driving.

For its own part, the Legendary Concept pays homage to the historical roots of the Land Cruiser nameplate. With its Sand Yellow exterior finish, chrome accents and badges, retro wheels and round headlamps, it resembles the off-roaders of the past, including the iconic LC 70 lineup.

Rounding off the list is the Street Cruiser, a name that speaks for itself. Low suspension, larger 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and a bike rack at the back allow it to be immediately identified as a fashionable and efficient urban dweller.

The compact-sized Toyota Land Cruiser FJ debuted last October on a stripped-down IMV chassis. It is 4.6 meters (179.7 inches) long and relies on a 2.7-liter petrol four-pot to send 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) to the wheels. Toyota hinted at a diesel variant coming soon in mid-February, but we haven’t heard about it since then.
