Shortly after the first spy pic of the Volkswagen Golf GTI showed up and whispers started about its anticipated GIMS 2020 premiere, technical specifications of the entire performance range leaked to the Internet.
All sports-oriented Golfs will ship with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged basic engine boosted to different values. The GTI and the GTE Hybrid will boast 245 PS (180 kW), the GTI TCR will get 300 PS (221 kW), and the AWD Golf R will top the range with 333 PS (245 kW).
The diesel-powered Golf GTD will allegedly pack 200 PS (147 kW), and an even stronger R is rumored to be in the works with up to 400 PS (295 kW) under the hood.
Whether any of the GTI numbers are true we will know in March 2020. The Golf R specs will likely have to wait until the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2020.
