Nissan plans to introduce solid-state batteries in EVs in 2028

The Japanese automaker hopes to be able to finalize its solid-state battery tech by 2028, resulting in substantial cost and weight savings for all electric cars made.

To that end, the company plans to construct a large industrial complex capable of churning out 100 megawatts’ worth of battery cells every month.

In turn, CATL – one of the world’s largest battery vendors and a supplier of Nissan – is skeptical of these prospects and the solid-state accumulator technology in general.
