BMW X1 facelift leaks through a China patent bureau

BMW has uploaded photos of its facelifted BMW X1 to the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry. Let us use this opportunity to see what is new in the Chinese version of the crossover SUV.

The car no longer has round anti-fog lights, but instead boasts a larger radiator grille, a different headlight pattern, and new front bumper details made of plastic.

The Chinese media seem positive that the facelifted BMW X1 series will ship with a revised selection of engines. In particular, rumor has it that the 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo version will receive a boost from its 136 hp (101 kW) to 155 hp (116 kW). The 2.0-liter engine is expected to ascend from its former 192 hp (144 kW) to 214 hp (160 kW).

The previously available plug-in hybrid version based on a 1.5-liter turbo gas engine and an electric motor will also remain on offer. Equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, it will deliver 231 hp (172 kW) along with 382 Nm (282 lb-ft) of maximum torque.

Production of the China-sold BMW X1 (F48) is handled by German-Chinese joint enterprise BMW Brilliance Automotive.
