Posaidon dials the Mercedes-AMG S63 to 940 PS, works on unlocking 1000+

Different tuners have different priorities: some lean towards complex makeovers, others do body kits and wheels, and others yet – like Posaidon – ask tens of thousands of euros for engine upgrades alone.

The German tuner has just revealed the Stage 4 kit for the coupe-shaped Mercedes-AMG S63 and its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. By replacing most of the internals, the engineers have persuaded the mill to pump out 940 PS (927 hp / 691 kW) and 1,280 Nm (944 lb-ft) of torque. Bolstered like this, the coupe makes the standard 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) sprint in 2.8 seconds and maxes out at 350 km/h (217 mph). Posaidon claims it could go even faster if it had adequate tires.

Moving down the list, a Stage 3 kit costs €29,900 and yields 880 PS (868 hp / 647 kW) and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque. The sprint lasts 2.9 seconds, and the top speed stays just as high.

Set aside €24,000 if you are interested in a Stage 2 boost, which amounts to 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. The sprint time gains another 0.1s, but the dynamics stay the same. Finally, for just €4,200, you may order an ECU tune for 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW) and 950 Nm (701 lb-ft) of torque. You will hit 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach the limit at 330 km/h (205 mph), which is arguably not too shabby at all, either.

The interesting thing to note here is that Posaidon is not going to stop here and now. A Stage 5 is currently under development that should take the S63 AMG to 1,000 horsepower and beyond. Given that the Stage 4 basically costs you a new C8 Corvette, though, we dread to imagine how expensive that package would be.
