Ford F-150 Lightning breaks cover with plenty of power and tech for the price

The all-electric Lightning version of the Ford F-150 is finally here, rocking a body made of military-grade aluminum, the sturdiest frame so far, and a high-end powertrain.

The newcomer boasts 571 PS (563 hp / 420 kW) and 1,050 Nm (775 lb-ft), surpassing the new Raptor in terms of peak torque. It barely needs more than four seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) and can tow up to 10,000 lbs (4.5 metric tons). The latter requires an XLT or Lariat specification with a large battery and a Max Trailer Tow package pre-installed.

The standard battery yields 230 miles (370 kilometers) on a charge, while the maxed-out battery yields 300 miles (483 km). You can use your F-150 Lightning as a mobile power source for appliances or even plug it into your household grid to get between 3 and 10 days of power autonomy.

Elsewhere, the truck rocks a frunk with 400 liters (roughly 14 cubic feet) of space, scales built into the truck bed showing the current load weight and its effect on range, BlueCruise semi-autonomous driving tech, and FordPass charging terminal access system.

Surprisingly enough, prices start as low as U.S. $39,974.
