Suzuki unveils the new S-Cross (SX4)

The next-gen Suzuki S-Cross, also known as the SX4, will be mainly targeted towards European buyers and come equipped with a mild-hybrid powertrain centered on a 1.4-liter turbo. A plug-in hybrid version will be made available later as well.

Despite some stylistic retouches, the crossover retains its recognizable features. New additions include a darkened radiator grille with a cellular ornament, a prominent front bumper and LED lighting all around. The headlights and taillights now reside higher up than before, resulting in a more aggressive exterior, and the wheel arches are also edgier than they were.

Power comes from a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine rated at 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque, and a 48-volt starter-generator contributing another 14 PS (14 hp / 11 kW) over a brief period. There is an electronic AWD system that supports four drive models called Automatic, Sport, Snow, and Interaxle Lock. The transmission can be six-speed manual or automatic. FWD versions need 9.5 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph), while the AWD version needs 10.2 seconds. Both max out at 195 km/h (121 mph).
