While Volkswagen is getting ready to unveil the new generation of the T-Roc at the upcoming IAA Mobility show in Munich, AutoHome.cn has posted what looks like actual photos of the SUV. The origin is unknown.
If you take a closer look, though, the images appear genuine. The new T-Roc simultaneously resembles the latest Golf and the company’s electric SUVs while retaining a sporty profile. C-pillars look mildly different, the bumpers are more aggressive with added black trim bits, and the lights look decidedly more up-to-date with full-width LED stripes and an illuminated badge at the front.
The interior also looks in line with Volkswagen’s more recent offerings. There is a redesigned dashboard, a larger infotainment display and a three-spoke steering wheel with nice physical buttons on it.
The Chinese publication speculates that most T-Rocs will be mild hybrids in this new generation. In fact, the eTSI badge on the tailgate means that this particular car is also petrol-electric. That said, a more advanced plug-in hybrid variant could also go on sale in China. Most drivetrain components will likely be shared with the latest Golf.
The current T-Roc for China (see video) is a mild hybrid driven by a turbocharged small-displacement engine. The top spec makes 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
