AC Cars announces a new supercar

The British company that had revived the legendary AC Cobra roadster for modern times has now presented another project. Dubbed the GT Supersport, it is essentially a different take on the same Cobra formula, but with a high-end V8 and track-ready aero. Only 25 units will be assembled and sold exclusively in the United States starting from $550,000.

Few technical details are known at this point, but AC Cars promises us an engine rated up to 1,025 PS (1,011 hp / 754 kW). The currently available version of the car has the same 5.0-liter V8, but with 810 PS (800 hp / 596 kW). It sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.2 seconds.

Compared to the contemporary AC Cobra, the GT Supersport immediately stands out thanks to an impressively sized rear wing. It also sports a bigger radiator grille, side sill extensions and a rear diffusor. The company mentions improved engine bay airflow, more downforce and a wider track for stability.

Since the car was designed for the U.S. market, it will be available finished in blue, red and white. The UK-based company had opened a branch office in Florida shortly before the announcement, so we may expect more special editions coming in the future.
