Right now, Bring-a-Trailer is selling an extensively tuned 2016 Ariel Atom 3S with 642 PS (633 hp / 472 kW) going to the wheels – an impressive gain considering its weight.
The owner of the sporty two-seater had its original engine swapped out for a 2.4-liter Honda K24 mill. New cylinder heads, camshafts, intake manifold and seals allowed for the boost pressure to be raised. Paired with a Haltech Elite 1500 control unit, the new engine sends the abovementioned 642 PS to the wheels along with 531 Nm (392 lb-ft) of torque.
The stock six-speed manual transmission benefits from reinforcements and a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. König wheels shod in Nitto NT01 and NT555RII tires deliver the power to the ground. The wheel size is 15 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.
A separate mention goes to the suspension, which is almost all new. It takes advantage of Palatov billet supports, JRi coilovers, H&R springs and adjustable control arms at the back. Brake rotors and calipers are likewise new, and the body wears an aerodynamic kit consisting of a large rear spoiler, a carbon front wing and a custom rear diffuser.
The track tool has been bid to $85,500 with a day left on the clock.
