Audi has reported its model 3 flagship saloon smashing through a North Loop record, reclaiming the top position a few years after it was dethroned.
The video shows the new RS 3 lap up the formidable German racetrack in 7 minutes 33.123 seconds – an absolute high score among mass-produced compact cars. Audi says the car will go on preorder in late August, so we should expect a full-fledged premiere by that date.
At this time, all we know is that the new RS 3 gets to keep its 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder engine rated at 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and 500 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. Audi claims it was numerous chassis and electronic system improvements that brought it the victory despite the unchanged power output. Aside from that, the car that hit the track took advantage of the optional RS Adaptive Suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-click tires.
