After many years working with Ford, Ken Block is with Audi now, and his latest video is dedicated to his shiny new stunt ride – the all-electric S1 Hoonitron.
As he states in the video, he demanded that the wheelbase be short and the per-axle weight distribution be at an exact ratio of 52:48. This created substantial difficulties for the engineering team, which also needed to find enough space in the frame to integrate a massive battery pack into. In the end, however, these issues were successfully resolved.
The electric car produces 500 kilowatts of power – that’s 680 metric horsepower or 571 American hp – and hits 640 Nm (479 pound-feet) of torque. It can direct the entire torque to any axle, making it a formidable stunt driving machine. Add to this the fact that the torque is instant, and what you get is a spectacular tire burner with few peers.
Make sure to watch the entire video for some bonus behind-the-scenes footage from the Las Vegas filming set.
