Multiple sources have reported that BMW wants to discontinue one of its more narrowly specialized models, the 3 Series Gran Turismo hatchback.
In the spring of 2019, Harald Krüger, who was the CEO of the Bavarian automaker at the time, said that the 3 Series GT would not make it to another generation, mainly because its sales were dwarfed by those of the SUVs.
Discontinuing the unpopular model is just one way in which BMW plans to deal with shrinking profits. Another one is trimming down the engine range. Overall, the company expects to save up to €12 billion with this strategy.
