BMW 3-Series hits the dirt in a crazy truck body

The E36-bodied BMW 3-Series Coupe has been modified so many times and in so many ways, you might think you’ve seen everything by now. Okay, how about a mud-racing ute with enough power to go airborne?

Grind Hard Plumbing Co, which published the video, said the car cost mere $150 in overall bad condition with a burnt clutch. They reshaped its entire rear into a modest-sized truck bed with frame, added 50 mm (2 inches) of ride height, slapped some rally-friendly wheels on, and decided to test the result.

The test revealed that the 3-Series, shockingly, was not designed for the ultimate in off-road performance. Before late, the entire rear suspension system was destroyed.

Rather than calling it a day, the team conducted repairs and put some bucket seats into the cabin along with five-point safety harnesses. It looks like this particular BMW E36 has a big rally career ahead – whether it wants it or not.
