Ultra-rare BMW M3 CRT goes on sale in New York

One out of the 67 total produced BMW M3 CRT sedans can now be purchased in NYC area with a few hundred kilometers on the clock. Its previous owner imported it from Italy and paid over $40,000 to make it road-legal in the United States.

The CRT moniker stands for Carbon Racing Technology and refers to the countless carbon-fiber parts that make the car weigh around 70 kilos (154 pounds) less than usual. Other upgrades include sports suspension, adjustable shock absorbers, a heavy-duty subframe, six-piston brakes, a titanium exhaust system, and lightweight wheels. The cabin is trimmed in red and black and houses an Alcantara-draped steering wheel.

Powering the four-door sports car is a V8 borrowed from a BMW M3 GTS. With 450 PS (444 hp / 331 kW) hitting the crank, it reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds and tops out at 290 km/h (180 mph).

The asking price hasn’t been disclosed, but the BMW M3 CRT started €130,000 new in Germany.
