Bugatti has teamed up with Swiss watchmaker Jacob&Co to produce a wristwatch called the Tourbillon Baguette in reference to the Bugatti Tourbillon hypercar. Only 18 units will be made.
The timepiece is conceptually identical to its standard counterpart, but sports multiple Bugatti styling cues. The housing resembles the outlines of the car, while the instruments look like its dashboard. A tiny V16 replica can be seen toiling in the mechanism, complete with functional titanium pistons and a crankshaft that’s 22.37 mm (0.87”) long. Jacob&Co calls it one of the longest parts ever used in modern-day mechanical watches.
To uphold its luxury status, the chronograph flaunts a housing made from 18-carat white gold and encrusted with 328 diamonds. A line of 18 rubies adorns its rear end, evoking associations with taillights. The word “Baguette” in the name refers to a special method of gem-cutting.
All prices are secret. Jacob&Co sells a mechanically identical timepiece starting from U.S. $340,000 in a production batch limited to 150 units. The Bugatti version can be safely expected to cost way more with its lower production count of 18 units and precious stones used in the finish.
This isn’t the first collaboration between these companies. Two years ago, Bugatti commissioned a similar chronometer inspired by its Chiron hypercar. It was primarily encrusted with rubies and sapphires, as well as “only” 45 diamonds. Prices started from $1,000,000.
