Electrified BYD Han lineup debuts with 5G support on board

China-based automotive corporation BYD has unveiled the hybrid and all-electric versions of its Han sedan. Both feature 5G in their base specs and should go on sale in China before the end of the summer priced from $32,300.

The model takes advantage of an integrated electronic platform known as Huawei HiCar, which essentially brings together electronic driver aids, infotainment functions, and a self-learning autopilot AI. You can use the HiCar to start or shut down the engine remotely, open and close doors, change climate control settings and manage other in-car functions.

The purely electric Han EV will come equipped by one motor (222 PS / 160 kW) or dual motors (272 PS / 200 kW). The former will take 7.9 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph), while the latter will manage the same in just 3.9 seconds, BYD claims. Both are capped at 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range.

In turn, the PHEV uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine rated at 189 PS (140 kW), which is assisted by as many as three electric motors. The cumulative power output amounts to 476 PS (350 kW), and the standard sprint time is 3.9 seconds.
