Check out a V8-powered drill sounding like a racecar

The YouTube channel Let’s Learn Something has recently posted a video dedicated to a cool and offbeat DIY project: a regular electric drill has been swapped to a miniature combustion engine – a V8, no less!

Toyan, the company that supplied the petite eight-banger, was founded in 2015 and has been specializing in producing tiny, yet fully functional internal combustion engines. They are largely used in toy cars and scale replicas, but can also be fitted into some household appliances.

The mill used in this specific project is called FS-V800. Its displacement amounts to a miniscule 3.5 cubic centimeters per cylinder, or 28cc total. A water cooling circuit, a couple of carburetors and a mechanically driven fuel pump enable it to rev up safely to a crazy 10,500 RPM, sounding like an actual supercar. You still have to keep in mind it’s a toy engine, but check out the video – it’s pretty impressive.

The host says the V8 drill is not as convenient to use as a normal electric drill, but still entirely viable. It can be tricky to measure, but it seems like its drilling power went up thanks to the combustion engine.
