Chery has attended the 2020 Chengdu Motor Show with Arrizo Star, its collaboration project with a third-party tuning company. The Chinese automotive marque expressed hope that the design study improves its image and shows people how flexibly customizable its cars are.
The base vehicle is a mundane Arrizo GX, which you can just barely recognize under all the aftermarket stuff thanks to the familiar shoulder line. Upgrades include lighting all around, bumpers, the hood, the fenders, the trunk lid, the rear spoiler and the doors with concealed handles at the front. Oh, and the rear doors are missing altogether.
The dimensions remain unknown, but the standard Arrizo GX measures 4,710 mm long, 1,825 mm wide and 1,490 mm tall with 2,670 mm separating the axles. It comes powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine worth 147 hp (109 kW) and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) of torque. Customers can opt for the Arrizo GX Pro spec, which gets 156 hp (116 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. The available transmissions are five-speed manual and CVT, and the drive stays on the front axle no matter what. Suspension involves McPherson struts at the front axle and a torsion-beam rear axle.
On a side note, there is also the Arrizo Champion Edition that flaunts a sporty body with red accents, but has even less thrust than its production counterpart: 115 hp (86 kW) and 143 Nm (105 lb-ft) sourced from a 1.5-liter non-turbo.
