Novelties
GM CEO Mary Barra has officially confirmed that the company is working on the next generation of Chevrolet Bolt EV. The release date has not yet been set, but it will be sometime in 2024.
The electric car will take advantage of a number of important design tweaks to reduce production costs and the end price. In its current form, General Motors itself admits that the Chevy Bolt (seen in the gallery below) is too expensive a car to produce for what it is.
To address this issue, the next generation will be running on Ultium platform and draw its power from a new traction battery expected to cost a whopping 40% less. Furthermore, the new design will offer more range per charge compared to the current design. The Ultium underpinnings will make it easier to implement a number of electronic assist systems, too.
