Ares Design has launched its S1 Project Spyder, an opulent RWD roadster based on the C8 Corvette chassis and capable of going 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.7 seconds. Production will be kept down to 24 units.
The topless ‘Vette sports a brand-new, all-carbon body with no windshield, but the dual wind deflectors at the front end should help divert the air from the cabin.
Powering the build is the stock 6.2-liter Corvette V8 engine good for 715 PS (705 hp / 526 kW) and 968 Nm (714 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is eight-speed semi-automatic.
It remains to be announced how much Italian coachbuilder wants for its S1 Project Spyder, but an educated guess places it above the €500,000 that Ares asked for its coupe counterpart.
