Check out the world’s only surviving Citroen Cityrama bus

A recent YouTube video shows a Citroen U55 Cityrama Currus double-decker that the author claims is the only remaining example in the world.

Currus produced these two-story buses with large glass domes and originally styled driver’s cabins in the mid-20th century. Travel company Groupe Cityrama ordered their creation based on the Citroen U55 truck chassis to use them as tour buses. Unrestricted field of view and the presence of the second story were both critical for city tours.

The author of the video claims they saw the bus at a vintage car expo, where it showed up for the first time in two decades. The owner decided to put it up on display to attract attention and possibly crowdfund its full restoration. The last surviving Cityrama is in lamentable state right now with most of its glass missing, parts rusted over and seats in need of a new trim.

It is already decided, though, that Normandy Classics will handle the restoration process. According to Philippe Debasly, the work will require no less than four years.
