Autocar.co.uk is reporting that the next generation of the Dacia Sandero will be coming to us in 2027–2028 running exclusively on battery power. The corresponding statement stems from Denis Le Vot, Dacia CEO, who says the only way for the ICE Sandero to survive is to go hybrid.
The company plans to release a new Duster SUV based on the CMF-B platform in 2024. Following its debut, all future Dacia vehicles will be based either on that platform or its electric modification – the CMF-BEV. As such, the new Sandero is currently shaping up to be a more wallet-friendly alternative to the Renault 5.
Per Denis Le Vot, the automaker will make every effort to keep the pricing as low as possible, ensuring that the battery hatchback remains one of the most affordable cars in its class in Europe. Such premium features as fast charging and large battery size will likely have to be sacrificed to achieve this.
