Car Tuning
The Hoonigan team has posted spectacular drag strip showdown footage on its YouTube channel featuring a heavily tuned 1973 Datsun 1200 Ute and a matching Honda Odyssey.
The Datsun packs a six-liter V8 that sticks out of its engine bay and rises almost to the roof level. Forced induction enables the mill to hit the rear wheels with 950 horsepower (~700 kilowatts). The wheels wear Mickey Thompson tires, while the interior boasts a carbon-trimmed dash, racing seats and a roll cage.
For its own part, the RB1 Odyssey light truck no longer uses its tame 2.4-liter four-pot with 158 PS (156 hp / 116 kW) at the output end. Instead, it is powered by Toyota Supra’s legendary 2JZ six-banger dialed up to “at least 500 horsepower”, per the owner. Apparently, he never got around to measuring it precisely.
Both rides are so unusual and extreme that we frankly struggle to decide which one has more of a chance for victory. Watch the video and see how things went!
