BYD has posted the first shots of its first all-electric compact CUV. Called the Leopard 3 (a.k.a. FangChengBao 3), it will be the cheapest vehicle in this lineup and the first one to lack an internal combustion engine. The sales will start later this year, the company says.
In the meantime, we received four images of the crossover wearing three kinds of colorful wraps. Based on this, one may surmise that BYD is preparing three trim levels for sale. The details aren’t discernible, but the overall shape makes it look very similar to the FangChengBao Concept that debuted in April. That said, we were unable to see any rugged plastic body kit parts or other offroad-themed accessories in the new photos. BYD has apparently also replaced the concept’s mud tires with general-purpose rubber.
According to an unofficial spec leak, the car is 4.6 meters long with 2.75 meters between the axles. The top powertrain is rumored to produce 420 PS (414 hp / 309 kW), and the prices are expected to begin from 220,000 Yuan.
