No-Nonsense Performance: Novitec rolls out a Ferrari 296 GTS “Joker”

Novitec’s latest take on the Ferrari 296 GTS is an extravagant coupe in purple and yellow called the Joker. With an engine boosted to 868 PS (856 hp / 638 kW), the actual joke might be on you for taking it lightly.

The first Novitec-tuned 296 GTS debuted over a month ago (see video). It features a revised air intake system, performance catalysts, gilded heat shields and a carbon-tipped exhaust system. The company neglected to measure how much use those extra 37 PS (36 hp / 27 kW) really were, but it’s not like you can go around calling Ferrari vehicles underpowered even in stock form.

In turn, the exterior was treated to the tuner’s usual N-Largo body kit. Flared fenders, carbon-fiber bumpers and hood, side skirts, a rear diffuser and a rear wing came together for a rather elegant impression. The car became 120 mm (4.7 inches) wider than stock and switched to staggered Vossen wheels installed in 21 inches at the front and 22 at the rear.

The announcement didn’t say anything about the suspension, but it looks lowered in the gallery here. The interior was largely left alone except for added yellow accents on white leather seats.
