Schumacher’s racecar’s tire becomes a $10k fashion accessory

Monaco-based jewelry company Mongrip has presented an exclusive accessory dedicated to the legend that was Michael Schumacher. The bracelet is made of platinum and diamonds includes a rubber tire fragment from Schumacher’s first-ever racecar that he piloted in his first season as part of the Ferrari team. Set aside €9,600 ($10,400) if you are interested.

The tire comes from the Ferrari F310 that Schumi drove to victory at the Italy Grand Prix in Monza in 1996. Starting third, he brought his then-struggling team the first victory since the domestic Grand Prix of 1988. It all was before he even earned his nickname, the Red Baron.

The seven diamonds adorning the platinum clasp symbolize the seven champion titles of the German racing legend. The buyers are allowed to make a custom engraving on the inner side of the bracelet, as long as they keep it down to 16 characters or less.

Only seven bracelets like this one will be made in the first batch. They will go on sale starting at 7:00 PM local Monaco time (GMT+1). Another batch is planned for production at a later date, which remains unknown. Mongrip supplies an authenticity certificate for all materials.

If you look closer at the last photo in the gallery here, you will see “01/91” printed on the sticker inside the box. This may be the actual number of bracelets planned for production.
