Ferrari Amalfi Spider touches down, and it’s just as wild as the GT

Ferrari has introduced a new Spider version of its Amalfi supercar. The four-seater sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in the same 3.3 seconds as its grand tourer sibling, and is only 5 km/h (3 mph) slower in a straight line.

Per the automaker, the soft top consists of five layers of fabric delivering the same heat and noise insulation as a fixed roof. The top is operated with a single button and takes 13.5 seconds to toggle, although you’ll have to drop down to 60 km/h (37.3 mph) while doing so. Buyers get to choose from four exterior finishes and two cloth weave patterns for the drop-top.

All power continues to be provided by a 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V8 factory-rated at 640 PS (631 hp / 471 kW) and 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed preselector DCT sends the momentum to the rear end, taking the Spider to its top speed of 315 km/h (195 mph). It also needs 9.4 seconds instead of 9.0 to reach 200 km/h (124 mph), but is otherwise barely different from the GT despite weighing 86 kilos (190 pounds) more.

A peek inside reveals a 15.6-inch digital dash display, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch passenger-side display. Multiple helpful drive modes and ADAS features are provided to keep the experience manageable for those who have yet to tame their first Ferrari.

The pricing has yet to materialize, but the Amalfi GT currently starts from U.S. $283,000. We expect the Spider to pack a considerable premium.
