Car Tuning
Performance editions of the Ford Mustang have traditionally been associated with Shelby. This time around, however, the manufacturer stole the initiative from its traditional tuner by announcing the limited R-Spec series for Australia.
The production run consists of only 500 units. Each packs 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts) under the hood and costs U.S. $65,000 and above.
To better evaluate the offer, consider for a moment that the same kind of money buys you a 190hp (142kW) Audi A4 with a premium trim or a 272hp (203kW) VW Passat in Europe.
What’s the catch? There isn’t much of one, apparently. All cars ship equipped with the Roush Performance’s Roots supercharger installed. The unit has 2.65 liters of own displacement and produces 12 psi.
Each car gets a six-speed manual transmission (no options here), two potent powertrain cooling circuits, lowered suspension (-20mm / -0.8”), adjustable roll stabilization, and originally styled 19-inch wheels clad in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber.
