GAC unveils the EMPOW55, its next design study

GAC Group has taken the wraps off the EMPOW55, a sedan study with striking looks and a pretentious name.

The company says the car was inspired by fighter jets and demonstrated the new design direction of the GAC automotive brand. Its main features include fang-shaped LED DRLs and an intricate body kit. The number 55 refers to the number of iterations the design team went through refining the car’s Global Platform Modular Architecture (GPMA). It appears likely that the production model will land with a much more market-friendly name.

It is also official that the car will utilize engines from the newly designed Julang Power Series, but it is still too early to talk specs. The only numbers we know right now are the target drag ratio (0.26, which is pretty impressive) and the tire size (245/35 R19). The interior remains out of sight.
