Geely Geometry G6 gets a new low-end motor, becomes more affordable

Geely has started taking pre-orders in China for the updated Geometry G6. The electric sedan is now obtainable with a new budget-friendly motor and costs less than before – not just the new version, but all of them.

Until recently, the G6 had been available exclusively with a 204-PS (201-hp / 150-kW) motor sending 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque to the front axle. IT maxed out at 165 km/h (102 mph). The new version offers 136 PS (134 hp / 100 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) of torque and doesn’t go any faster than 150 km/h (93 mph).

Two new battery sizes have been added to the lineup: 46 kWh, which gives you 410 km (255 miles) per charge, and 53 kWh, which yields 500 km (310 miles). Both batteries take less time to charge than the old one – eight minutes of waiting plugged into a powerful enough charger will let you drive another 100 km (62 miles).

Prices range from 119,800 to 147,800 Yuan. The pre-facelift version of the Geely Geometry G6 had cost from 149,800 to 189,800 Yuan. According to the manufacturer, it was able to achieve the savings through simpler overall design and cheaper base trims. For instance, the most affordable G6 still has two infotainment displays on the dash, but the one in the middle has shrunk from 14.6 to 10.2 inches of diagonal size. Other features, like Level 2 semi-autonomous driving and leather upholstery, have been made exclusive to the top trim levels.
