Genesis eG80 spied with roof-mounted solar panels

A test example of the upcoming Genesis eG80 battery sedan has been spotted sitting on a parking lot in South Korea covered in solar panels.

The disguise is present, but there is no mistaking the muscular hood, two-section headlights, and a stub where the radiator grille usually is. Note also the missing exhaust tips.

The G80-based four-door EV may wind up with dual motors and around 500 kilometers (310 miles) of range, although neither is official at the moment. The solar elements on its roof could be used for real-time battery replenishment during driving. A Level 3 autonomous driving system is also expected.

The Korean newcomer will likely go into production in two years’ time and compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Tesla Model S.
