Genesis pondering a successor to the Bentley Continental GT

The Korean premium vehicle manufacturer is considering adding a full-size coupe to its lineup, CarBuzz reports. While not official yet, Genesis has applied for the trademark ‘GT90’ in the USA, which could be a new luxury grand tourer to rival the Bentley Continental GT.

If so, it will probably be based on the flagship Genesis G90 platform while borrowing individual design traits from the X Concept (shown in the gallery here). The marque mentioned before that it had wanted to mass-produce cars based on these luxury-laden concepts. Just like the Bentley mentioned above, they were envisioned with comfort being a priority over sports. That said, the patent application for the ‘GT90’ requests rights in both ‘light passenger cars’ and ‘sports cars’ categories.

Genesis Creative Manager Luc Donckerwolke said earlier that the brand was not planning to axe its sedan lineup in favor of SUVs. He emphasized that any companies doing so were simply freeing up space for Genesis to operate in.
