Haval Raptor Hybrid gets a facelift

Haval has launched a refreshed Raptor Hybrid in China. The rugged SUV hasn’t changed much on the outside, but ended up with a redesigned interior and a seriously upgraded powertrain. It’s already available to preorder for 173,800–208,800 CNY.

You can tell the new Haval Raptor from the old version by its revamped front grille and lights, especially the taillights now consisting of 300 LEDs. It also rides on new wheels and can be ordered in a few new finishes. Inside, the biggest change comes in the form of a modern infotainment system based on a 14.6-inch display. The transmission selector now sits on the steering column, and the dual-spoke steering wheel is new as well.

Things look particularly good in the powertrain department where a 1.5-liter engine works in tandem with two e-motors. Their combined output comes to 449 PS (443 hp / 330 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque, taking the SUV from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds.

The only battery announced so far has 35.43 kilowatt-hours of capacity and yields up to 200 kilometers (124 miles) of all-electric range. Once fueled to the max, the new Raptor Hybrid can do 1,000 km (621 miles) and more, according to the manufacturer. More batteries should be added later, especially smaller and more affordable variants.

Trim-wise, buyers can look forward to ventilated/massaged seats, panoramic roof, surround vision, an HVAC with an ionizer and a rear diff lock. The top trim also gets a modern ADAS package featuring dozens of cameras, radars and sensors.
