Honda has unveiled a new Breeze CUV created for China. The mid-size car sports a distinct exterior while running on CR-V underpinnings. The sales are set to begin before the end of the year.
Both models share the same body structure, but the Breeze stands out thanks to all-new bumpers, a modest-sized radiator grille, new lighting and a different tailgate with a large spoiler on it. The rugged body kit is missing, suggesting that the model could be marketed as an urban CUV first and foremost.
At 4,716 mm long, the Breeze is 22 mm longer than the car it is based upon while retaining the same 2.7 meters of wheelbase. It is also 80 mm than the previous generation and has 40 mm of added wheelbase.
The interiors are virtually identical between the Breeze and the CR-V, but the trim materials are new. Both can be seven-seaters.
For the time being, the new Honda Breeze will only ship with a 1.5-liter turbo engine mated to an IVT box for 190 PS (187 hp / 140 kW) on the front wheels. The top trim levels will feature AWD as a paid option. Later on, the car may become available as a hybrid.
The production will take place at the GAC-Honda joint enterprise. The CR-V mentioned above is manufactured with Dongfeng, a common practice among automakers in China wishing to expand their target audience coverage. The prices remain to be announced, but the CR-V starts from 169,800 Yuan (24,300 USD).
