Hyundai unveils modded Veloster N, Ioniq Electric

Hyundai has built modifications of its Veloster N hatchback and Ioniq Electric liftback that will participate in the Search for the Ultimate Street Car event coming up in a few days.

According to the car manufacturer, the upgrade program included all modifications most frequently sought after by “your typical enthusiast”.

The Veloster N received a turbocharged 2.0-liter V4 engine with a sizeable charge-air cooler and a cat-back exhaust system. The car also now sports Wilwood Endurance racing-spec brakes, adjustable roll bars and a roll cage.

On the outside, the tuned Veloster N gained a front splitter, lowered suspension, side skirts and custom 19-inch wheels. On the inside, it now features racing seats and an advanced audio system.

The Ioniq Electric liftback received an electric motor with 204 hp (152 kW) and 394 Nm (291 lb·ft) of torque, which represents a substantial boost from the stock 120 hp (90 kW) and 295 Nm (218 lb·ft). Reportedly, it can now accelerate 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 8 seconds and ultimately reach 185 km/h.

Other options included lowered suspension, Wilwood brakes, a limited slip differential, reworked engine cooling and 18-inch wheels clad in Bridgestone tires.

Hyundai is currently looking into how well the two cars perform with the upgrades.
